One again: Changing U.S. policy in the Mideast

Please read my Time to Ignore the Middle East?

Upadte: Interesting debate over my piece among Democrats here and here. (Thanks ScarletWoman!). Those who disagree should explain in what way the Middle East policy paradigm of each of the three candidates would be different than that of Bush. In fact, the rhetoric of Clinton and Edwards on Iraq is toughter than the administration's.

The U.S. will 'ignore' the Middle East when it ceases to be the most concentrated source of energy on the planet, or when hell freezes over, whichever comes first. Paradigms, Middle Eastern or otherwise, have absolutely nothing to do with U.S. involvement there. Nor do starry-eyed visions of Democracy and freedom, or any sort of opposition to terrorism.
